Mizzou fans hammer Tigers' defense on Twitter after awful first half vs. Tennessee
Mizzou’s defense has not been good this year. The Tigers entered Saturday’s game against Tennessee with the nation’s No. 129 overall run defense.
By the time Sunday rolls around, the Tigers might be in dead last, as the Vols have been running all over them through the first half.
At halftime, Tennessee had a 45-10 lead, complete with 425 yards of total offense (275 on the ground). Oh, and the Vols get the ball first after halftime.
As you can see below, Mizzou fans are fed up with Steve Wilks’ defense. Fans took to social media to rip the embarrassing effort:
Tyler Badie is so so good…I feel bad for him that he has to breakout in a year with a defense as terrible as this Mizzou group

@Mizzou’s defense couldn’t stop my grandmother. And she’s been deceased for 10 years.

I don’t know what to say. #Mizzou’s defense has been awful. We know that. But the offensive struggles are more frustrating. Bazelak isn’t identifying where pressure is coming from, then forces throws against it. Run game has no shot up front.
Top to bottom, embarrassing.

@CoachDrinkwitz Your team looks very undisciplined and lost. Your Wilks hire IS a mistake. I don’t care if it’s a “new” defense. There looks to be zero effort or pride. I love MIZZOU, but I have to ask if another win is possible this year. Can’t be good for recruiting either.

Does Mizzou play with nine men on defense

Mizzou’s defense is purely theoretical

Beginning to think Mizzou’s run defense might be a little suspect.

Tennessee is on pace for 90 points. Obviously, backups will probably get some time if the blowout continues, but Mizzou hasn’t shown any interest in tackling, so expect the rout to continue in Columbia.
