Gary Pinkel and the Tigers quietly received verbal commitments from three players over the weekend including a 6-foot-7 wide receiver from Dublin, Ga.

The first wideout to commit was three-star Johnathan Johnson after the Memphis, Tenn. native wasn’t satisfied during his official to Purdue. Johnson had offers from Tennessee and Ole Miss as well and believe he’ll have a shot to play as a freshman after the Tigers lose all three starting receivers for the second consecutive season.

Franklin Agbasimere, a lesser-known unranked linebacker out of Montverde, Fla., committed to Mizzou outside of most others’ radar. Known for developing talent, Pinkel obviously sees something in the 6-foot-2, 225-pounder to offer up a spot on his defense. Agbasimere is from Nigeria and reportedly has only played football for a few years.

The third commitment was Justin Smith, the aforementioned pass-catcher and probable tight end from the Peach State. Before anyone makes comparisons to former Mizzou receiver Dorial Green-Beckham due to a similar frame, it should be stated Smith has a skill set still in development with his only other offers from Mercer and N.C. State.

He has an official visit to Raleigh, N.C. scheduled for Jan. 30.
