Mizzou RB coach Curtis Luper, Army veteran, educates team on service ahead of Armed Forces Bowl

Missouri will meet Army on Wednesday in the Armed Forces Bowl, and the Tigers have a first-hand example on their coaching staff of an Army veteran to speak on the meaning of service.
Curtis Luper, Mizzou’s running backs coach, shared about his service in the Army during the Desert Storm.
Luper said when he found out Mizzou would play Army, he was very excited.
“I’m a proud veteran, and proud to be playing against Army,” he said.
Luper told the media on Sunday that he was stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado, for more than 2 years but didn’t go overseas during the conflict. While his training was in Alabama, Luper’s final assignment was to be stationed in South Korea.
About the game, Luper said it’s critical for the Tigers to build on the momentum they had to finish the regular season.
He said that there’s no one on the team that’s won a bowl game at Mizzou, and “Coach Drink has made that point every single day since we’ve been preparing for the bowl game. It’s incumbent upon us to finish the season strong, everyone wants to do that.”
