Mizzou reportedly hires new pitching coach with minor-league coaching experience
Mizzou pitching coach Mitch Plassmeyer left the team after only 1 year in the assistant role following a disappointing 2022 season.
Now, it appears the Tigers have found a replacement, and are bringing in a guy who has scouting experience for the St. Louis Cardinals, pitching coordinator experience for the New York Mets and has been the pitching coach for the Lotte Giants in the KBL most recently.
Per Kendall Rogers of D1Baseball.com, the Tigers are hiring Ricky Meinhold to fill the open pitching coach role under head coach Steve Bieser:
ASSISTANT SCOOP: @MizzouBaseball has hired Ricky Meinhold as its new pitching coach, sources tell @d1baseball. Meinhold was a scout for the @Cardinals, MiLB pitching coordinator for the @Mets, and most recently ran pitching for the Lotte Giants of the KBLhttps://t.co/zElYPlAYGZ

Mizzou’s pitching staff had a 5.58 ERA for the 2022 season. That ranked No. 12 out of 14 SEC teams. We’ll see if Meinhold can turn things around in 2023.
