Missouri will be hosting former West Virginia linebacker Josiah Trotter, a source told ESPN’s Pete Thamel on Wednesday morning. Trotter also has a visit set for Washington, according to Thamel.
Trotter, the son of former NFL Pro Bowl linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Sr. and the younger brother of Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Jr., had a standout freshman season in 2024 for the Mountaineers. He piled up 92 tackles this fall for West Virginia, including 37 solo tackles and 4 tackles-for-loss. Trotter also had an interception for West Virginia.
But despite having such a breakout first season in Morgantown, Trotter told ESPN on Dec. 4 that he was entering the transfer portal.
Missouri went 9-3 in the regular season with Eli Drinkwitz leading the Tigers and is preparing for the Music City Bowl against Iowa on Dec. 30. The Tigers would like to end 2024 on a high note, but they could be looking at a big boost in their linebacker room for 2025 with the possible addition of Trotter.
We’ll see if the Tigers can pick up a key piece for the defense, though the portal is both good and bad for all teams this time of year. Mizzou lost 5-star freshman Williams Nwaneri to the portal after just one season with the Tigers, and we’ll see if any other players leave soon.
