The 2015 game between Arkansas State and Missouri will take place in Jonesboro, Arkansas State athletic director Terry Mohajir said Tuesday.

The Tigers owe the Red Wolves a return visit for the 2013 contest in Columbia, which Missouri trailed, 16-14, deep into the third quarter. But Arkansas State is expanding Centennial Bank Stadium, leading to preliminary talks about relocating the game to St. Louis.

According to Troy Schulte of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, that won’t happen.

Missouri still needs two non-conference opponents for 2015, with Arkansas State and Southeast Missouri State, an FCS program.

It appears unlikely the Tigers will face a team from a Power Five conference as part of its non-conference schedule in 2015.

Missouri (and reportedly the St. Louis Sports Commission) would’ve loved it if Arkansas State moved that game to St. Louis, giving the team a tremendous marketing opportunity in the state’s second-largest city. Instead the Red Wolves will open their revitalized stadium against the Tigers in what should be a boon for that program in terms of attendance and attention.
