Missouri football will open the season at 1-0 after taking down the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs, 52-24.

Things weren’t amazing for the Tigers as they traded some shots back and forth in the first two quarters before extending the lead over the Group of 5 Bulldogs 24-10 at halftime.

But that didn’t last for long. The Tigers came to play and showed out with staring quarterback Brady Cook, who previously had a small sample size, showing to be a true dual-threat in the season-opener.

Cook finished out the contest with 196 passing yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception. He added 61 yards and a touchdown as a runner.

Versatile running back Nathaniel Peat, who could potentially be the Tigers’ workhorse at the position this season, rounded out the fourth quarter with a long-distance rushing score, bringing Mizzou’s lead to a staunch 45-17 score.

Sophomore running back BJ Harris concluded the scoring show for Mizzou, sending the team to a 52-17 dominating lead over LA Tech with less than four minutes remaining in the game. The Bulldogs would score a garbage-time touchdown to bring the final score to 52-24.

Freshman sensation Luther Burden impressed, as well, compiling 3 catches for 17 yards and a touchdown and adding 3 rushes for 26 yards and a score.

One thing that was apparent was Mizzou’s dominance on either side of the ball that should continue to move the Tigers forward as they prepare for SEC play.

The Tigers will face Kansas State in what is expected to be a much more difficult contest on Sept. 10.
