Despite starting every game at center the past two seasons for the Los Angeles Rams, former Mizzou OL Tim Barnes will be searching for a new NFL home prior to the start of the 2017 campaign.
On Thursday, Matt Brei — Barnes’s agent — tweeted that the Rams had released the ex-Tiger in what he considered a surprising move:
Rams just informed me they are releasing starting center Tim Barnes @TimBarnes62. Surprise after 32 straight starts.

Barnes, who has played for five years in the NFL (all with the Rams), was signed as an undrafted free agent following the 2011 NFL Draft. He is only 28 years old, so he’ll still have plenty of value for whatever team ends up signing him.
Stability is important at the center position in the NFL, and Barnes has proven he’s durable. He should be able to quickly find a new team.
