The Missouri Tigers made a bold decision to hire former Tennessee head coach Derek Dooley as their new offensive coordinator.

Dooley most recently served as the WR coach for the Dallas Cowboys, but will head to Columbia in 2018 to coach QB Drew Lock and the Mizzou offense.

Now, the Tigers are reportedly set to make Dooley the highest-paid assistant in school history, according to documents obtained by STLToday.com:

Newly hired Missouri offensive coordinator Derek Dooley agreed to a three-year contract paying him a guaranteed salary of $900,000, according to the memorandum of understanding obtained by the Post-Dispatch.

Dooley’s tenure at Tennessee was obviously disastrous, but he has done a solid job as the Cowboys’ WR coach for the past five seasons.

He’ll have Lock, RB Damarea Crockett, a talented receiving corps and a solid offensive line returning next year, so it’ll be interesting to see how he fares.
