After starting his NFL career as a tackle and then moving to guard, former Mizzou OL Justin Britt has settled in at center for the Seattle Seahawks, filling the void left when the team traded former C Max Unger to the New Orleans Saints.

Now entering the final year of his contract, the ex-Tiger will try to continue to prove he deserves a long-term extension.

At the moment, offensive line coach Tom Cable thinks Britt is deserving of a raise, telling SeattlePI.com that he’s loved watching Britt grow into a leadership role:

“For him to be settled is good. You always try to find guys in their roles, I think we’re getting closer to that,” Cable said. “This is a young enough group that you can kind of see them stay where they’re at right now for a while now. Here he is coming off a tremendous first year at center, he was the leader before, now he has really become a strong, strong leader on offense across the board.”

Britt started 15 games at center for the Seahawks last year and was an alternate for the Pro Bowl. He was one of the few bright spots along Seattle’s porous offensive line.

Only 26 years old, the Seahawks could do a lot worse than Britt next offseason.
