UCLA’s Josh Rosen, USC’s Sam Darnold, Wyoming’s Josh Allen and Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield are all among the quarterbacks being discussed as potential first-round picks in the 2018 NFL Draft.

However, Mizzou QB Drew Lock is also gaining serious traction as a possible first-round pick if he decides to forgo his senior year.

According to Dan Patrick, the same NFL scout who told him about Texas Tech QB Patrick Mahomes’ meteoric rise up draft boards last year has also been hearing good things about Lock this year:

“This is what happened with Patrick Mahomes,” he said. “Nobody talked about him. This scout says to me, ‘Hey, Mahomes is really moving up. He’s a first-round draft pick and people are going to start trading for him — they’re going to go up and get him.’ That’s when I brought it to your attention and that’s what happened in the draft.

“Same scout said he really, really loves Drew Lock at Missouri. I don’t know if he’s a first-round pick or not. Maybe it’s a second- or third-round pick or something like that, but this is according to the same scout who told me about Patrick Mahomes.”

Lock may still decide to return to Mizzou for his senior season, but if he’s a, well… lock… to be a first-round pick, it’d be hard to fault him for turning pro.
