In one of the more controversial hirings of the offseason, Missouri has replaced departed offensive coordinator Josh Heupel with Derek Dooley.

The former Dallas Cowboy receivers coach and Tennessee head coach doesn’t have the most stellar reputation at the moment, but the same was said about Lane Kiffin when Nick Saban hired him to run Alabama’s offense years ago.

Could Dooley have a similar impact on the Mizzou offense in 2018? He’s got arguably the best quarterback in the conference to work with, which is the perfect place to start.

The team’s new offensive coordinator touched on what he learned coaching at the NFL level for several seasons, what aspects of the college game he missed, his plans for star quarterback Drew Lock and the implementation of his offense heading into spring football.
