Mizzou ends the 2019 campaign 6-6, but the six wins won’t result in a bowl berth as the NCAA is upholding the postseason ban after MU’s appeal.

The NCAA announcement sucked some of the excitement out of Friday’s game against Arkansas. Tigers coach Barry Odom was pleased with how his team responded on the field at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock after the crushing blow to the squad’s morale.

After the 24-14 win, Odom met with the media on hand to discuss whether he’ll be back in 2020 and why QB Kelly Bryant was unable to play in his postgame press conference. Here are some of the highlights:

  • “It wasn’t pretty. We all know that. But it was a win.”
  • On QB Kelly Bryant not playing due to swelling in his knee: “I hate it. I love the kid to death. … He’s left his mark here.”
  • More on Bryant: He wanted to play, but coaches did not think it would be right call.
  • On postseason ban appeal decision: “It’s what we were handed. Our guys responded and played well enough to win a game.”
  • On if he expects to be back for 2020 season: “No idea. I’m going to wake up in the morning and go to work.”
