My Picks For NBA Playoffs, April 22, 2024
Nikola Jokic, Denver Nuggets — More than 0.5 points
This is the no-brainer of all no-brainers. Jokic is the likely MVP for the 2023-24 season and has been absolutely dominant the last 2 postseasons. He just posted 32 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists in a Game 1 victory over the Lakers. Even if Los Angeles comes up with a better plan to stop him in Game 2 (unlikely), he’s still a lock to have at least 1 point. Take advantage of this free square and don’t look back!
Donovan Mitchell, Cleveland Cavaliers — More than 26.5 points
The Cavaliers and the Orlando Magic have had 2 of the better defenses in the NBA this season. Game 1 of the series, which the Cavaliers won, featured a final score of 97-83. Still, even in that rock fight of a game, Mitchell scored 30 points. In Game 2 tonight in Cleveland, he should find plenty of space to shoot. Look for him to have a similar scoring output to the one he had on Saturday afternoon and score around 30 or so points.
Jalen Brunson, New York Knicks — More than 11.5 rebounds+assists
The Knicks claimed Game 1 at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night, but it wasn’t easy. The 76ers managed to limit Brunson to 22 points, which is well below his season average. I expect the Sixers to have another game plan that focuses on limiting Brunson in Game 2. But when Brunson isn’t scoring, he’s still finding ways to impact the game positively. He had 14 rebounds+assists (7 boards, 7 dimes) in Game 1. I like him to have 12+ rebounds+assists in tonight’s game.
