Top Underdog Picks for Ole Miss-Miami
Ole Miss and Miami are not supposed to be here. The Hurricanes and Rebels beat the odds last week by taking down the defending national champs and CFB powerhouse Georgia, respectively. Here’s a look at our favorite picks for this unlikely CFP Semifinal matchup:
Trinidad Chambliss, Ole Miss QB: Higher 263.5 passing yards
I believe in this Ole Miss squad, and it starts with Trinidad Chambliss, a guy that has been doubted his entire playing career. As I’m sure you’ve heard before, Chambliss started at D-II Ferris State and has been working with many against the Rebels due to the fact that Lane Kiffin isn’t standing on the sidelines. He sure proved naysayers wrong against Georgia, throwing for 362 yards and a pair of touchdowns. I don’t think it matters what defense he’s facing, Chambliss feels like he’s in for another monster game after a star showing against a good (though admittedly not elite) Bulldogs defense.
Mark Fletcher, Miami RB: Higher than 0.5 rushing + receiving TDs
Nobody has been able to stop Mark Fletcher this past month, and Ole Miss’s defense has not been particularly great against the run this season, ranking 65th in total run defense. I fully expect this one to be a shootout, and if that’s the case it’d be pretty surprising for perhaps the most talented scorer on the field to miss out on the end zone.
Kewan Lacy, Ole Miss RB: Higher than 79.5 rushing yards
Kewan Lacy finished the regular season with the 3rd most rushing yards in the country. While it’s true that Lacy is facing a tough Miami run defense, I really don’t think it matters. Lacy is a beast and I’m not going to bet against him in a game where the final score could be quite inflated. Especially considering he needs just 80 yards.
