FanDuel is expanding its reach in West Virginia through a new partnership announced last week.
Delaware North and FanDuel are coming together for a market access partnership for online sports betting and iGaming in West Virginia. The access will come through Delaware North’s Mardi Gras Casino & Resort.
FanDuel already is an active online casino in West Virginia, but this new partnership will only strengthen its position in the state.
FanDuel Replaces WynnBET, Betly in West Virginia
This new partnership will combine Delaware North’s gaming and hospitality experience with FanDuel’s brand recognition.
“Delaware North has been a respected name in gaming and hospitality for decades, and they are an ideal partner as we continue to operate in West Virginia,” FanDuel’s Business Development Senior Vice President Jonathan Edson said in a press release.
Delaware North’s Chief Interactive Gaming Officer Lee Terfloth added, “We love working with FanDuel and are very proud to be partnered together in West Virginia. This partnership represents the best of what Delaware North strives for, bringing trusted, innovative experiences to our customers – and FanDuel is an incredible ally in that mission.”
Delaware North had previously been partnered with WynnBET for its online sportsbook and online casino. That pairing began in November of 2021, but WynnBET announced in April 2023 it would begin ending online sports betting in the US. Soon after, it left West Virginia.
Delaware North has been utilizing a partnership with Betly since then for online casino revenue.
FanDuel Has Been Partnered With Greenbrier Resort
FanDuel became an active online casino in West Virginia through its partnership with The Greenbrier Resort. There, it operates a physical retail sportsbook as well.
The sportsbook at The Greenbrier Resort will continue to be operated by FanDuel despite this recent agreement.
Greenbrier has also had a partnership with BetMGM Casino in West Virginia and been the leading licensee when it comes to generating iGaming revenue in the state.
In FY2025, which concluded this past June, Greenbrier generated $139.3 million in online casino revenue. That was a 79.3% jump from the $77.7 million it had done for FY24. Mardi Gras generated just $7.6 million in iGaming revenue last year.
FanDuel has been a leading brand when it comes to revenue generating in other states as well. In August alone, it was the top producer in Michigan. It also led the way in a crowded field of New Jersey online casinos, with reporting via ESNY.
This move is certainly a nice feather in the cap of Delaware North and should see significant improvements from what it got out of the WynnBET license.
