SEC baseball is bigger than ever, so it would only be fitting for the conference to send the largest number of teams ever to the NCAA Tournament.
The SEC holds the record for NCAA Tournament bids with 11, set last year. In the conference’s first season as a 16-team league, the record is expected to fall.
D1Baseball.com has 13 SEC teams making the NCAA Tournament in the latest field of 64 projections. A 14th team is included in the projections as one of the First Four Out.
In the D1Baseball projections, 7 of those 13 teams would be hosting NCAA Regionals. Four of the host squads are top-8 seeds. If that holds, those squads would also be set to host if they advanced to the Super Regional round.
Here are the projections:
- Texas – Austin Regional host, No. 1 overall seed
- LSU – Baton Rouge Regional host, No. 2 overall seed
- Arkansas – Fayetteville Regional host, No. 4 overall seed
- Tennessee – Knoxville Regional host, No. 6 overall seed
- Vanderbilt – Nashville Regional host, No. 9 overall seed
- Georgia – Athens Regional host, No. 10 overall seed
- Auburn – Auburn Regional host, No. 14 overall seed
- Oklahoma – Chapel Hill Regional 2-seed (No. 5 North Carolina host)
- Alabama – Clemson Regional 2-seed (No. 7 Clemson host)
- Kentucky – Morgantown Regional 2-seed (No. 12 West Virginia host)
- Ole Miss – Raleigh Regional 2-seed host (No. 13 NC State host)
- Florida – Tallahassee Regional 3-seed (No. 3 Florida State host)
- Texas A&M – Last Four In: Los Angeles Regional 3-seed (No. 16 UCLA host)
