The celebration for LSU baseball’s national championship has reached the Big Apple.

The top of the Empire State Building is lit up in Purple and Gold in recognition of LSU’s accomplishment. Here’s a photo of the Empire State Building as of Monday evening with New York City in the background:

According to D1Baseball’s Kendall Rogers, this is the first time the Empire State Building has been lit up to recognize a College World Series champion.

LSU captured its second title in the last three years and its eighth overall on Sunday afternoon by sweeping Coastal Carolina in the CWS Finals. The Tigers were dominant in Omaha, winning all five games they played. LSU won its final eight games of the year en route to the title.

Kade Anderson was especially dominant in the postseason. The southpaw capped off his tremendous LSU career by throwing a complete game shutout in Game 1 of the CWS Finals against Coastal Carolina on Saturday night. It was the first complete game shutout in Omaha since 2018.

Only USC (12) has more College World Series titles than LSU’s eight. The Tigers will surely be looking to continue their budding dynasty under Jay Johnson next spring.
