Florida star Colby Shelton appears to be nearing a return to the lineup just as the Gators begin postseason play.

Shelton, who hasn’t played since April 26 due to a hamate injury, is considered “day to day,” according to a report from Nick Marcinko. While he didn’t like live batting practice on Thursday, Marcinko reports Shelton no longer has a brace on as he works his way back from injury.

If Shelton is able to return at some point during Florida’s postseason run, it would be a huge boost for the Gators. He hit .377 with 7 home runs and 35 RBI before suffering an injury in late April. He’s still Florida’s season-long leader in both batting average and OPS with a mark of 1.064.

Florida is on the road this weekend in Conway as the Gators are the No. 2 seed in Coastal Carolina’s regional. Despite Coastal being the host, Florida is the favorite to come out of this regional in the betting markets. Per bet365, Florida is -115 to make it to a Super Regional while the Chanticleers are listed at +105. East Carolina (+1200) and Fairfield (+4000) are the other teams who will be in action in Conway this weekend.

Florida will face ECU at 12 p.m. on Friday in Conway.
