Georgia picked up an impressive series win this past week, but things ended on a low note Sunday for a couple of reasons. The Bulldogs pulled standout third baseman Tre Phelps during the series finale, which went to Texas A&M 18-5.

On Monday, UGA shared an update on Phelps. In the game notes for Tuesday’s home contest against Kennesaw State, GeorgiaDogs.com states that Phelps left Sunday’s game due to a hamstring cramp. He is expected to return sometime this week.

Georgia enters the Tuesday game with KSU 20-5 on the season. The Bulldogs have played 21 of 25 games at home this season, going 17-4 at Foley Field. Last time at home, Georgia won 8-5 over The Citadel on Tuesday before the road trip to College Station.

Wes Johnson’s squad is one of the six SEC teams ranked in the top 8 of the D1Baseball Top 25. Georgia sits at No. 7 after a 3-1 showing in Week 6 with the ranked series win over then-No. 23 Texas A&M. The Aggies are still ranked at No. 25 in the new poll.

Phelps has been a big part of Georgia’s strong start to the 2026 campaign. In 24 starts, Phelps is slashing .400/.526/.800. In 90 at-bats, he has 36 hits and 10 home runs, notching 27 RBIs. He has contributed to his high on-base percentage by drawing 10 walks and being hit-by-pitch 15 times.
