Kentucky starting pitcher Ben Cleaver went just 3.2 innings after giving up 4 hits and 2 earned runs. The Wildcats starter struck out 4 and walked 2 in a losing effort.
Tristan Bissetta had himself quite the day, launching two homers on the day and collecting 3 RBIs.
A Bissetta 2-run homer in the bottom of the first got Ole Miss on the board early. After shutout innings from both teams, Bissetta got the scoring going again with a solo homer in the bottom of the fifth.
A Brayden Randle triple in the bottom of the sixth kept the Rebels hot, scoring one, and a Will Furniss solo homer put the game away late in the bottom of the eighth inning.
The Wildcats will look to get the bats going when these teams face off for the second game of their 3-game series on Friday. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.
