Jim Schlossnagle spent 3 seasons as the head coach at Texas A&M, and even got the Aggies to the championship series at the College World Series a year ago.

Schlossnagle’s Aggies lost to Tennessee in Omaha, falling just short of a national title. But Schlossnagle did his time in College Station and did it well, going a combined 135-62 in those 3 seasons at Texas A&M. It was only 3 years, but even 3 years at 1 program can leave an impact on a head coach in any sport. That is apparently the case for Schlossnagle, who just happened to do the unthinkable on the day after the Aggies’ College World Series loss last June.

He took the head coaching job at bitter rival Texas, going from College Station to Austin with 1 big move. It’s like going from Alabama to Auburn, Michigan to Ohio State and, well, you get the picture. Schlossnagle is living both sides of the Texas A&M-Texas rivalry in consecutive seasons, and that might have shown up during Sunday’s Austin Regional game, where his Longhorns were playing Kansas State in an elimination game.

During an in-game interview, Schlossnagle just might have blirted out the worst words anyone who bleeds burnt orange possibly could. There is some doubt about if Schlossnagle actually said “Gig ’em” before correcting himself to Texas fans, but that’s in the eye of the beholder — or maybe depends on which side of the rivalry you reside on.

Here is the video of the in-game interview:

Grok weighed in on the matter, because of course that happened. Schlossnagle might have had a slip of the tongue for a brief second but, again, that’s up to each individual fan.

Here is Grok’s explanation on the whole ordeal:

Whatever Schlossnagle did or didn’t say, what Texas baseball fans care about is that the Longhorns had a huge early lead in the game in an effort to keep their season alive.
