LSU had an abysmal week, dropping two of three to Sacramento State and finishing the week with a 1-4 overall record.
After dropping games to Northeastern and UL-Lafayette on Monday and Wednesday, the Tigers had a chance to bounce back after a rough midweek in a 3-game series against the Sacramento State Hornets. After run-ruling the Hornets in 7 innings and winning 15-4 on Friday, it looked like the Tigers were back.
However, they would go on to drop the final two games of the series, 5-4 and 6-1, and finish the week with a 1-4 overall record. A 1-run in 6.2 innings performance from Sac State pitcher Carson Timothy helped lead the Hornets to a series win on Sunday.
LSU out-hit the Hornets 23-16 over the weekend, but 14 of those hits came in LSU’s 15-4 Friday victory. Over the last two games, the Hornets out-hit the Tigers 12-9.
The Hornets came into this series with just 3 wins on the year.
The Tigers now sit with a 12-5 overall record and are not off to the start that many thought. They will look to bounce back against Creighton on Tuesday before taking on the Vandy Boys in a 3-game series over the weekend.
