LSU sits 2 victories from its 2nd national championship in 3 years as the Tigers clashed with Coastal Carolina on Saturday night in Game 1 of the Championship Series in Omaha.

The Tigers baseball program had already made another bold impression this June on the diamond, and that was only part of LSU’s winning display in Omaha. Down the road from Charles Schwab Field, there was another contest going on that LSU was doing well in, too. It had nothing to do with baseball itself but instead LSU’s rabid baseball fans, who were cleaning up well once again at the annual Rocco’s Jello Shot Challenge.

The numbers now prove it. Two years ago, as LSU was busy winning the national title down the road, Tigers fans took down an astounding 68,888 jello shots to establish the all-time record.

Two years later, with LSU on the cusp of another national title in baseball, Tigers fans have established themselves as No. 2 on the jello shots list behind only that 2023 run of glory. As of early Saturday night, as Game 1 of the title clash was starting, LSU went over the 40,000 shots mark. The exact total for the Tigers fandom was 40,605 jello shots — and counting.

Here is the Rocco’s shots scoreboard as of early Saturday night, with many more shots surely in store:

There will be more shots updates on Saturday night and into Sunday for sure. And if we get a deciding Game 3 on Monday night, the shots scoreboard will keep going up, and just maybe this LSU run will catch up to the 2023 record-breaking run.
