LSU’s miserable week continued Saturday with a loss to Sacramento State. The Tigers, who entered the week No. 2 in the D1Baseball Top 25, have now dropped 3 of their last 4.
Jay Johnson’s team lost 5-4 to Sacramento State on Saturday, as a late rally fell short. Sac State scored the first 5 runs of the game, holding a 5-0 lead entering the bottom of the 8th. The Tigers answered Sac State’s 4-run 8th with 3 runs of their own, but managed only 1 run in the 9th.

It was a rough night for the LSU bats, as the Tigers were held to just 3 hits. Sac State used 6 pitchers in the game, with starter Kurt Marton tossing 4.1 shutout innings of 1-hit ball. LSU used 5 pitchers, with starter Moore going 4.2 IP, allowing 1 run.
LSU opened the week with stunning losses to Northeastern (13-10) and Louisiana (7-2), meaning it will be a losing week that is sure to see the Tigers plummet in the next rankings. The Bayou Bengals, though, can at least salvage the series. Thanks to 15-4 win in 7 innings on Friday night, Game 3 is the rubber game.
The program announced that Sunday’s series finale has been moved from 2 p.m. ET to 7 p.m. ET due to the weather forecast in Baton Rouge.
