Mississippi State is playing some inspired baseball after Chris Lemonis was dismissed as head coach.
On Saturday night, the Bulldogs made it a 3-game winning streak since the coaching change. MSU walked it off in the 11th inning to secure a 6-5 victory over Kentucky for a series win.
Joe Powell was Saturday night’s hero in Starkville, with the RBI knock to plate the game-winning run.

It’s hard at any level of baseball to sweep a doubleheader. The Bulldogs did just that on Saturday.
MSU made it back-to-back run-rule victories in Game 1 of the doubleheader. Coming off an 18-5 win in 7 innings over Memphis on Tuesday, Mississippi State picked up right where it left off and hammered Kentucky 14-4 in Game 1 of the doubleheader, the series opener.
UK and MSU ended up playing 18 innings, though, since Game 2 went 11 innings. The Bulldogs have now won their last 4 at Dudy Noble Field, dating back to the Florida series finale.
It’s no secret that Mississippi State is on the NCAA Tournament bubble. By sweeping the doubleheader, MSU is now 28-19 overall with a 9-14 record in SEC play. The Bulldogs’ RPI is up to No. 38.
MSU will try to further boost its resume with a series sweep. Game 3 is set for 1 p.m. ET at The Dude.
