SEC baseball continues to dominate the latest college baseball rankings as we hit the week of April 14, but another new team from the conference is the No. 1 team in the land.
On Monday, the folks at D1Baseball dropped their latest rankings after a fun and wild week in the SEC. Previous No. 1 Arkansas entered last week with the top spot, but the Razorbacks dropped a weekend series to Georgia in a top-10 battle.
Ascending to the top spot for this week is Texas, the first No. 1 spot of the season for the Longhorns under new head coach Jim Schlossnagle. Texas captured a weekend series by winning 2 games at Kentucky and has now won its first 5 series in conference play, including top-5 series wins over LSU and Georgia.
Arkansas only slipped to No. 2 in the latest rankings after a spirited series fight in Athens. The Bulldogs eventually claimed the rubber match with a dramatic extra-innings affair on Sunday.
Clemson is now up to No. 3 in the D1Baseball poll, followed by Tennessee at No. 4 and Georgia at No. 5. While the Vols and Bulldogs shined this weekend with top-10 series wins (the Vols beat Ole Miss 2 out of 3 times in Oxford), there was not much movement for either team this week.
Meanwhile, the latest College World Series odds still favor Tennessee as the favorite to repeat, with the Vols checking in at +400 via DraftKings. LSU (+750), Arkansas (+900) and Clemson (+1000) round out the top 4, and be sure to use the best betting apps to track the odds all season long.
