The No. 5 Auburn baseball team earned a dramatic 4-3 victory vs. No. 2 Texas on Friday night in the series opener of a three-game set from Plainsman Park. With the bases load and one out, Bristol Carter’s line drive plated in three runs that sparked Auburn to the walk-off win.
The ball went through Aiden Robbins’ legs in center field all the way to the wall, which gave the third runner enough time to reach home as Auburn fans erupted in joy.
Auburn (19-2, 4-0) is now riding a 12-game winning streak after the magical victory. Carter is proud of his heroics but is also quick to give praise to the rest of his teammates for remaining resilient.
“The big thing was slowing down the game. We practiced ninth-inning situations every day in the fall. We just battled,” Carter said. “We passed it down to each guy and trusted one another.”
This is a memory that Carter will remember for the rest of his life and he’s optimistic this is just the start of a special season for Auburn.
“I’ve never felt that way in my whole career in baseball,” Carter said. “We’re hoping for many more feelings like that to come.”
