Ole Miss OF Ryan Moerman delivers unlikely bare-handed grab

Ole Miss is trying to end the regular season with a win over Auburn, and outfielder Ryan Moerman delivered a potential play of the game for the Rebels.

In the top of the 4th, the game was tied at 1-each. Ole Miss has already clinched the series by winning the first two games of the series, and Auburn is hoping to salvage the finale before rolling into next week’s SEC Baseball Tournament.

With the score tied in the 4th inning, Auburn’s Cooper McMurray lifted a fly ball into right field toward Moerman. The Ole Miss outfielder was able to track the ball cleanly and appeared ready to make a grab, but the ball initially bounced out of Moerman’s glove.

Fortunately, no glove was required as the outfielder was able to snare the bobbled ball with his bare hand — all while falling to the ground. Technically, Moerman’s play saved him from an unfortunate error in the box score, but it was still a wild grab, to say the least:

That may not be the best way to wind up on the highlight reel, but it certainly beats getting tagged for the error. Now, Moerman and the Rebels will try to wrap up a sweep over Auburn to end the regular season.
