SEC teams trade No. 1 spot in D1Baseball rankings ahead of final week of regular season

It’s time for the final regular season week of SEC baseball, and a new team from the league has the top spot in the latest D1Baseball poll for May 12.

On Monday, the folks from D1Baseball dropped their latest, and previous No. 1 Texas is no longer in the pole position. That’s because the Longhorns have dropped back-to-back weekend series, going 1-5 in their last 6 SEC contests.

Moving up to the top spot is LSU, the 2023 champions of the College World Series and one of the favorites to lift the trophy in Omaha this summer. The Tigers most recently took 2 of 3 from Arkansas, including a dominant run-rule victory on Saturday that was walked off in epic fashion.

The other key movement coming out of the weekend involves Vanderbilt, which is up to No. 9 nationally after taking the series victory on the road vs. rival Tennessee. As the Commodores eye a potential designation as a host site through the Super Regionals, the Vols have now lost 4 straight SEC series and are facing the prospect of hitting the road for the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.

Tennessee is still among the favorites in the latest College World Series odds, though Arkansas is the overall favorite, coming in at +400 via DraftKings. The Vols (+650) and LSU (+750) round out the top teams in those odds, and fans can track all the action through the best sports betting apps.
