St. John’s eliminates Florida State, makes NCAA Tournament history with Super Regional berth

NCAA Baseball Tournament history was made on Monday. For the first time in the Super Regional era, two teams that were 4-seeds in the Regional round are advancing to Super Regionals.
Little Rock secured a spot in the Supers on Sunday. On Monday, St. John’s followed suit by going 3-0 in the Tallahassee Regional, which was hosted by No. 10 overall seed Florida State. The Red Storm notched a 5-4 victory over FSU, eliminating the Seminoles from the tournament.

After taking down an ACC team, St. John’s will now face an SEC team. The Tallahassee Regional was paired with the Tuscaloosa Regional, meaning the Johnnies will take on No. 7 national seed Alabama in a best-of-3 series for a spot in the College World Series.
Little Rock won the Hattiesburg Regional, which was hosted by No. 9 overall seed Southern Miss. The Hattiesburg Regional is paired with the Gainesville Regional. No. 8 national seed Florida and Troy will play a winner-take-all game Monday evening. The winner of the Gainesville Regional will host Little Rock with a trip to Omaha on the line.
