Texas A&M baseball added a big-time player to its 2026 roster on Sunday afternoon.
The Aggies have reportedly picked up a commitment from former Florida Atlantic outfielder Jake Duer, who entered the transfer portal earlier this offseason. Duer was hitting above .400 before suffering a season-ending injury.
D1Baseball’s Kendall Rogers first reported the news of Duer’s commitment.
Duer played in 34 games before going down for the season. He finished the year hitting .428 and struck out just 10 times in 138 at bats. He also hit for some power as he had a .551 slugging percentage at the end of the season. He also drew 18 walks on the year, giving him an on-base percentage of .497. Duer profiles as a potential lead-off hitter for the Aggies in 2026.
Duer will be a big part of the effort to have a better season in College Station next year. Despite entering the year with College World Series aspiration, the Aggies missed the NCAA Tournament altogether this year following a disappointing campaign. Texas A&M had just 1 qualified hitter with an average better than .300 this season, so Duer will certainly be in position to make a big impact next year.
Texas A&M is expected to make further additions in the transfer portal this offseason as it builds out its roster for 2026.
