Jim Schlossnagle’s staff has made a notable pickup out of the portal for Texas‘s 2026 roster.

The Longhorns are bringing in an experienced shortstop with a reliable glove and consistent bat. Stanford transfer Temo Becerra took to social media to announce that he is continuing his college baseball career in Austin.

A Clovis, California native, Becerra is entering Year 5 of his college career. The 6-1, 186-pound infielder did not play in 2021 as a true freshman. He saw action in 130 games over the past 3 seasons.

In Stanford’s 2025 season, Becerra appeared in all 52 games, making 51 starts. At the plate, he slashed .330/.384/.427. He recorded 27 runs scored and 37 RBIs, hitting 11 doubles, 2 triples and 1 home run.

Becerra is consistent. He hit safely 40 of 52 games and had 16 multi-hit games and 12 multi-RBI contests last season. In ACC competition, Becerra posted a .333 batting average with 8 double, 2 triples and a homer, logging 20 RBIs.

At one of the key defensive positions, Becerra posted a fielding percentage of .935 last season. He’s .932 fielder over 134 career games.
