Walk-off wins are always fun and exciting. But what about walk-off series sweeps against your rival?

Vanderbilt walked off No. 21 Tennessee on Sunday in epic style for the third straight game, as Tommy Goodin’s bottom-of-the-ninth grand slam capped a six-run barrage for a 16-15 Commodores victory at Hawkins Field.

Vanderbilt (17-12 overall, 5-4 SEC) also walked off the Volunteers (18-10, 3-6) 3-2 in 10 innings Friday and walked off the in-state rivals 6-5 in 16 innings Saturday.

The Commodores’ Sunday comeback was a part of a wild ninth inning that saw Tennessee score three runs in the top of the ninth for a 15-10 lead. The two teams combined for 19 hits and seven extra-base hits.

Third baseman Braden Holcomb and second baseman Brodie Johnston each went 3-for-5 for Vanderbilt. Right fielder Reese Chapman and designated hitter Trent Grindlinger each went 3-for-4 for Tennessee with left fielder Blaine Brown going 3-for-5.

Vanderbilt has now won seven of its last 10 home SEC games via the walk-off. Goodin’s grand slam was his second of the season, and he how has seven home runs.

Vanderbilt swept Tennessee for the first time since 2013 and has now won six straight against the Volunteers.
