Alabama basketball lands commitment from elite 2026 prospect Jaxon Richardson

While most Alabama basketball fans are focused on how the Crimson Tide will close out the 2025-26 campaign, UA got some big news for the future on Thursday.
Jaxon Richardson, one of the top prospects in the Class of 2026, has committed to play for Nate Oats. On the 247Sports Composite, Richardson is rated 4-stars, the No. 5 player in the state of Florida, No. 10 small forward and No. 27 prospect overall nationally. Other outlets consider Richardson a 5-star prospect.

Originally from Miami, Richardson heads to Tuscaloosa from Southeastern Prep in Orlando, Florida. A McDonald’s All-American, Richardson comes from a notable basketball family. His father, Jason Richardson, helped Michigan State win a national championship before a 14-season pro career. Older brother Jase Richardson was also a standout for Michigan State in 2024-25 and was selected No. 25 in the 2025 NBA Draft.
Jaxon Richardson collected 21 scholarship offers during his recruitment, showing interest in Creighton, Miami, USC, Ole Miss and others.
