Alabama completed the regular-season Iron Bowl of Basketball sweep in dominant fashion on Saturday. The No. 16 Crimson Tide defeated Auburn 96-84 at home for a Senior Night victory.
The game was only tied for 43 seconds, and Alabama never trailed. Auburn opened with sloppy play, committing 4 turnovers in the first few minutes before making a field goal.
The Crimson Tide led by 19 points at halftime (50-31) and opened up a 28-point lead in the second half (67-39). Auburn chipped away a bit, but it was still a 23-point game with 5 minutes to go (85-62). The Tigers got into the teens and made it a 12-point difference at the final buzzer.
Alabama was led by Labaron Philon and Aden Holloway, scoring 21 points each. Amari Allen (16 points), London Jemison (11 points) and Aiden Sherrell (10 points) also scored in double figures.
Auburn’s Kevin Overton was the game’s high scorer with 24 points, but it wasn’t enough for the Tigers.
The team posted similar shooting percentages (51% and 52%) from the field, but Alabama managed 69 field-goal attempts to Auburn’s 59. AU committed 13 turnovers to Alabama’s 8.
The Crimson Tide were dominant on the glass, outrebounding Auburn 42-28. UA also worked inside, outscoring Auburn 52-38 in the paint.
With the win, Alabama secured the No. 2 seed in the SEC Tournament. Auburn, currently on the wrong side of the NCAA Tournament bubble in most projections, will look to make a deep run in Nashville as the No. 12 seed. Prediction market Kalshi is taking action on which team will cut down the nets.
