The No. 25 Alabama basketball team earned a clutch road victory Saturday night, holding off LSU 90-83 at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center in Baton Rouge – the Crimson Tide’s sixth straight victory.
Five Alabama players scored in double digits, led by Aden Holloway’s 17 points. Amari Allen scored 16 points, Latrell Wrightsell Jr. scored 14 points off the bench and both London Jemison and Aiden Sherrell added 12 each. Sherrell pulled down 10 rebounds to lead the Crimson Tide (20-7 overall, 10-4 SEC).
Marquell Sutton scored a game-high 21 points for LSU (14-13, 2-12), which has lost four straight and seven of its last eight games. Jalen Reece scored 14 points and PJ Carter came off the bench to add 13 for the Tigers. Pablo Tamba scored 10 points and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds.
Alabama led by as much as 16 points midway through the second half, only to see that lead dwindle to six after Carter canned a 3-pointer with 2:38 to play. Allen drove for a layup on Alabama’s next possession, however, and LSU would get no closer.
Alabama outscored LSU 36-26 in the paint and went 30-of-37 from the free-throw line – while LSU was 16-of-22 from the stripe.
The Tide host Mississippi State on Wednesday night (9 pm ET, ESPNU), while LSU plays at Ole Miss on Wednesday night (9 pm ET, SEC Network).
