Auburn fans had a roller coaster of emotions during Tuesday night’s game against Texas A&M. The Tigers were in control for much of the game, but the Aggies stormed back from 16 points to take a 90-88 lead into the closing seconds.
With only 0.6 seconds remaining, the Tigers had the ball with a chance to win. KeShawn Murphy drilled a deep 3-pointer that appeared to win Auburn the game, but, after a review, the officials determined the shot did not count.
After the game, fans let their feelings be known. While some fans verbally accosted the officials, others threw objects out onto the court. One of those fans tried to throw a drink at an official, but missed in epic fashion.
Coach Steven Pearl told reporters after the game that the referees didn’t talk to him after the game, and everyone at Auburn was livid.
It has been a rough start to the season, as the Tigers are only 9-6 on the year. The team has been searching for a big win, and to have it taken away from them in that fashion was tough for the home fans to swallow.
Auburn will look to bounce back from that loss when it hosts Arkansas on Saturday.
