Back in February, the Big 12 made the controversial decision to play its conference tournaments on a glass court. In its press release, it announced that this would be the “first time ASB GlassFloor is utilized for official competition in the United States.” It also may be the last time.

Late Thursday night, the Big 12 announced it would be moving back to a hardwood court for its men’s basketball semifinals and championship game. Commissioner Brett Yormack released a statement on the decision following the conclusion of Thursday’s quarterfinal between TCU and Kansas.

“After consultation with the coaches of our four semifinal teams, I have decided that in order to provide our student-athletes with the greatest level of comfort on a huge stage this weekend, we will transition to a hardwood court for the remainder of the tournament,” Yormack said, per CBS Sports’ Matt Norlander. “We look forward to a great semifinals and championship game.”

The Big 12 playing on a glass court was met with skepticism by college basketball fans almost as soon as it was announced. Unsurprisingly, there were some tremendous social media reactions to the news.

Arizona, Iowa State, Houston and Kansas are surely the happiest campers about the change. The Wildcats and Cyclones face off in the first semifinal matchup at 7 p.m. ET (ESPN). The Cougars and Jayhawks follow at appx. 9:30 p.m. E.T. (ESPN).
