Charles Bediako was given the legal green light to play for the Alabama Crimson Tide, and Nate Oats will reportedly have him suit up on Saturday when UA faces Tennessee.
College basketball insider Jeff Goodman of the Field of 68 shared the news Wednesday evening that Oats is planning to play Bediako.
The college basketball community has been closely following the Bediako saga. He last played for Alabama in 2023 and was selected in that year’s NBA Draft. A 67-game starter over 2 seasons at UA, Bediako averaged 6.6 points and 5.2 rebounds per game.

The NCAA did not grant Bediako eligibility because he has signed multiple NBA contracts. The contracts were 2-way deals, however, and Bediako only played in the G League. He filed suit in an Alabama court and was granted a temporary restraining order, making him eligible, for the moment. A final ruling is set to be made on Tuesday, Jan. 27.
Alabama enters Saturday’s matchup at 13-5 overall and 3-2 in conference play. The Crimson Tide are on a 2-game winning streak. Tennessee is 12-6 on the year and below .500 in conference play (2-3).
