College basketball game interrupted by dog running on the court

A dog ran on the court at the beginning of George Washington’s Saturday game against American University.
This isn’t your show, Air Bud. It’s obvious that No. 4, George Washington’s Ricky Lingo was not expecting to see an animal on the court.

So many questions are to be asked here. For one, where did the dog come from? Why were so many people seemingly scared of the obviously very happy and harmless dog after the initial shock factor?
America was able to squeak out a win over the Colonials with a final score of 69-64. The Eagles are now 7-2 on the season and have own 7 games in a row.
