Cooper Flagg’s college recruitment has been a major story for a year. Rated the No. 1 player in the 2024 recruiting class by the 247 Sports Composite, the power forward out of Montverde (Fl.) Academy has been pursued by many major programs.
Throughout the process, Flagg generated high-major offers from Duke, UConn, Kansas, Michigan, Texas, UCLA, Villanova and others. In the end, Flagg’s commitment was announced Monday morning.
Flagg has committed to Duke and Jon Scheyer’s Blue Devil program, adding another major blue chip player to the mix. The commitment came via the latest cover for SLAM magazine. Per the publication’s Instagram post, Flagg is the first-ever player to commit on the magazine’s cover.

Flagg is listed at 6-foot-8 and 195 pounds as an ultra-elite power forward. The composite rankings have Flagg as the top player in the country, at the PF position and out of Florida for the class of 2024.
According to 247 Sports’ Adam Finkelstein, Flagg is impressive on both ends of the floor and possesses a “quiet” killer instinct. Flagg is praised for being a dominant off-ball defender and excellent passer with a “good foundation and developing playmaking ability.”
As for the 2024 recruiting class, Duke holds the No. 1 class in the country with Flagg joining fellow 5-star prospects SF Isaiah Evans and SF Kon Knueppel in committing to the Blue Devils. Darren Harris is the fourth commitment in that group and is a 4-star SF. Duke’s trio of 5-star commitments are all top-20 players for the cycle.
