Arkansas guard Darius Acuff headlines a group of SEC stars who officially earned AP All-America status on Tuesday.
Acuff was the lone SEC player to get a first-team All-America nod, joining Duke forward Cameron Boozer, BYU forward AJ Dybantsa, Michigan forward Yaxel Lendeborg and Texas Tech forward JT Toppin.
Acuff led the SEC at 22.9 points per game this season, upping his total to 24.8 points per contest in conference play. He’s the biggest driver behind why Arkansas had an elite offense this season despite dealing with injuries all year long. Acuff also averaged 6.5 assists per game during the regular season, which led all SEC players.
Elsewhere on the AP All-America teams, other SEC players were honored. Alabama guard Labaron Philon and Florida forward Thomas Haugh both earned third-team All-America spots.
Philon took a big jump as a sophomore this season, averaging 21.7 points and 4.7 assists per game. He also shot over 40% from the 3-point line and is a big reason why Alabama’s offense is ranked No. 3 nationally in opponent-adjusted efficiency.
Haugh was Florida’s best player this season, contributing in all phases of the game as the Gators won the SEC regular season title. As a junior Haugh averaged over 17 points and 6 rebounds per game while mostly playing small forward.
Arkansas, Alabama and Florida all have Final Four aspirations this year. Here’s the latest odds from Kalshi on teams to make the Final Four:
