Dick Vitale is a legend when it comes to college basketball broadcasting. After a battle with cancer, Vitale is back on the microphone for ESPN this season.

On Saturday, he was on the call for the Indiana-Kansas showdown at Phog Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, Kansas.

During an early break in the action, the Jayhawks paid tribute to Vitale on the Jumbotron, and the ESPN broadcaster showed some emotion as he waved to the fans:

Vitale has been calling basketball games for ESPN for 41 years now. His voice and personality are synonymous with the game.

It’s clear fans and schools across the country are happy to have him back at the broadcast table this year.
