Dick Vitale made a special appearance at the SEC Tournament on Saturday.
The legendary ESPN broadcaster was recognized on court before the tip-off of the Arkansas-Texas A&M semifinal. It was a short trip to Tampa’s Amalie Arena for Vitale, who lives in Lakewood Ranch in the Sarasota area.

Vitale was absent from ESPN for much of 2021-22 college basketball season. Vitale began undergoing cancer treatments in 2021 and was unable to broadcast at the start of the season. After getting medically cleared, Vitale returned but had to again step away from broadcasting, this time to rest his vocal cords after having surgery to treat dysplasia and ulcerated lesions of the vocal cords.
Vitale recently shared that a PET scan came back showing no cancer.
