ESPN Analytics predicts outcome of Georgia-Vanderbilt showdown in Nashville
ESPN Analytics doesn’t want to know about Vanderbilt‘s recent slide.
Despite the Commodores slipping to 25th in this week’s AP Poll after losing twice last week, at Mizzou and at home against rival Tennessee, the BPI is giving Vanderbilt a 78.7% chance to bust out and beat Georgia on Wednesday night at Memorial Gym. The Commodores will be right back in their friendly home confines after falling to the Volunteers on Saturday, and they’ll be desperate to keep from slipping any further down the SEC standings against the equally desperate Bulldogs.
Vanderbilt is 21-6 overall and just 8-6 in the SEC now after losing 3 of its past 5 games, including last week’s disastrous pair of defeats.
Meanwhile, Georgia is looking to keep climbing after winning 2 in a row following a stretch of 5 losses in 6 games that threatened to throw away its NCAA Tournament hopes. Those hopes have been rekindled after wins over Kentucky and Texas last week, setting up a huge chance for the Dawgs to snag another quality SEC victory as the regular season winds down.
Georgia (19-8) is back at .500 in the SEC at 7-7 and seeks its 20th victory of the season, which would be a huge benchmark in its bid to crawl above the NCAA Tournament bubble line. ESPN’s BPI doesn’t believe the Dawgs will have the staying power to keep surging in the 7 p.m. ET tipoff on SEC Network, believing that Mark Byington’s Vanderbilt team is overdue to get back in the win column after this recent slump.
Kalshi is in lock step with ESPN’s BPI in giving Vanderbilt a 77% chance to snap out of its recent funk and take care of Georgia at home on Wednesday night:
