No. 11 seed Texas takes on 3-seed Gonzaga in the second round of March Madness, and ESPN Analytics isn’t giving the Longhorns much of a shot to pull off another upset victory.
The Texas Longhorns shocked many in the first round when they upset star freshman AJ Dybantsa and the 6-seed BYU Cougars. They did so with a well-rounded team effort, having 4 starters all score in double figures.
Matas Vokietaitis led the way with 23 points and 16 rebounds, but Tramon Mark chipped in 19 points, Dailyn Swain added 14 points, and Jordan Pope had 11 points, showcasing the Longhorns’ well-rounded scoring effort.
Gonzaga is coming off a 9-point win over the Kennesaw State Owls in the first round. Graham Ike led the way with 19 points and 8 rebounds, and Davis Fogle, off the bench, also added 17 points.
The Bulldogs will be looking for a bounce-back performance from the 3-point line after they shot a measly 17% against the Owls.
With a Sweet 16 berth on the line, ESPN Analytics is deeming Gonzaga a heavy favorite and giving them a 74.8% chance to come out victorious versus the Longhorns.
Tipoff for this matchup is set for Saturday at 7:10 p.m. EST on TBS/truTV.
