ESPN Analytics predicts the outcome of the Saint Mary’s-Texas A&M 7/10 game
The first round of the NCAA Tournament is finally upon is. We kick off the Thursday slate with TCU-Ohio State and end it with Idaho-Houston. In between, we have tons of compelling matchups and upset possibilities.
Whether a No. 10 seed beating a No. 7 seed is truly an upset is in the eye of the beholder. However, in betting markets, the Texas A&M Aggies beating the Saint Mary’s Gaels on Thursday evening would qualify. Sportsbooks have settled on the Aggies being roughly a 3-point underdog against the Gaels despite facing off in Oklahoma City’s Paycom Center.
For better or worse, ESPN Analytics is also backing Saint Mary’s. The worldwide leader in sports gives the WCC squad a 53.2% chance of beating Texas A&M on Thursday afternoon. This aligns with the appx. percentage of ESPN Tournament challenge users who have picked the Gaels (54.3%) to knock off the Aggies, as of 10:10 a.m. ET.
A Texas A&M win would be its third consecutive first-round NCAA Tournament triumph. A Saint Mary’s victory would be its fourth first round win in the last 5 seasons. Both schools have a strong recent NCAA Tournament tradition, but only one can advance. The Gaels and Aggies tip off at 7:35 p.m. ET (TruTV).
