Before Florida fan Blake Cox grabbed his first basketball today, ESPN’s Rece Davis said nobody had hit a half-court heave in GameDay‘s competition so far this year. Moments later, that changed.

In the final minutes of this morning’s edition of College GameDay, Cox stepped up to the Gators’ logo and drilled a shot from midcourt. The make won him $19,000 and got him mobbed by fans and Florida’s mascot, Albert Gator.

Cox had a great celebration himself in the midst of the mob. He looked right at the camera, then blew the fire off his fingertips before holstering his right hand.

Once things had calmed down a touch, Davis asked Cox what he was going to do with the money. Cox said he would “advance God’s kingdom” with a portion of the funds, then “buy some hockey jerseys and attend some sporting events.” If he didn’t already have a ticket to tonight’s game versus Arkansas, he surely does now.

The Gators have already moved up to a No. 2 seed in ESPN’s Joe Lunardi’s Bracketology, but could essentially seal their placement on that line by beating the Razorbacks today. A win would also give them a share of the SEC regular-season championship. Tip between Florida and Arkansas is set for 8:30 p.m. ET (ESPN).
