The Florida Gators absolutely dismantled the South Carolina Gamecocks on Wednesday night on the road, picking up the 47-point victory, 95-48.
The 47-point margin of victory ties a school record for the Florida Gators. The last time the Gators picked up a win this large over an SEC opponent was back in 1993 when the Gators beat Ole Miss 94-47 in Gainesville.
This does pass the largest margin on the road in the SEC. That record was 35 points, which the Gators had done three times, most recently with a 106-71 win over LSU in 2017.
Thomas Haugh led the way for the Gators with 18 points. 4 other players also scored double-digit points for the Gators. On the other hand, South Carolina only had 2 players crack the double-digit margin, and freshman guard Eli Ellis led the way off the bench with 13 points.
The Gamecocks shot an abysmal 26% from the field and 15% from behind the 3-point line. The Gators shot 62% from the field and 43% from the 3-point line.
The Gators now shift their focus to the Crimson Tide. Head coach Todd Golden will have to back up some of the remarks he made about Charles Bediako and the Crimson Tide. Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. EST on Feb. 1.
South Carolina will host LSU this Saturday at 6 p.m. EST.
